Hayes and Co are seeking an experienced and motivated Gun Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our retail firearms business. This is a hands-on retail management role requiring strong customer service skills, a comprehensive understanding of firearms and associated products, and the ability to maintain compliance with all relevant Queensland and Australian firearms legislation.

 

The store is located within a busy rural precinct alongside cattle sale yards, a rural merchandise and country apparel store.  This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a close-knit team.

Ideally, you are experienced in discussing optics, rifle setups, and associated hunting products.  You will be required to assist customers over the phone, via email and messaging platforms, as well as picking and packing customer orders when required.

 

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys an outdoor and rural lifestyle and takes pride in working within an environment that reflects those passions and interests.

 

The successful applicant will lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring all operational, administrative, and compliance requirements are met.

 

This is a full-time permanent position and may include some rostered Saturday work.

Key Responsibilities:

            Provide exceptional customer service and product advice

            Manage day-to-day retail store operations

            Oversee point-of-sale transactions and cash handling

            Maintain accurate records and data entry requirements

            Ensure compliance with all firearms legislation, regulations, and store procedures

            Maintain legislative compliance with dealer obligations

            Assist customers with firearm, ammunition, and accessory enquiries

            Merchandise and replenish stock displays and retail counters

            Coordinate and maintain stock control processes

            Assist with social media promotions and general marketing activities

            Supervise and support retail team members

            Maintain a clean, organised and safe retail environment

            Liaise professionally with suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies where required

 

Skills & Experience:

 

            Previous retail management or supervisory experience preferred

            Point of sale and retail administration experience

            Comprehensive understanding of firearms, ammunition, and associated products

            Strong communication and interpersonal skills

            Ability to work effectively in a team environment

            Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask

            Computer and data entry skills

            Professional presentation and customer-focused attitude

 

Mandatory Requirements:

 

            Current Queensland Weapons Licence is essential

            Ability to comply with all applicable firearms legislation and licensing requirements

            Current driver’s licence preferred

            Ability to work rostered Saturdays

            References required upon application
