At Hayes & Co., livestock is more than our business, it’s our family story. Our connection to livestock auctioneering dates back to 1902, when our first licensed auctioneer, E.J. Hayes, laid the foundations of a legacy that has been carried through generations. More than a century later, that same commitment, work ethic and community spirit remain at the core of everything we do. The passion for the land, the livestock industry and its people has been passed down and proudly continues today.
What began as a small family operation entered a new chapter in the early 2000’s as the Hayes & Co. brand took shape. Our first sale in June 2002 marked a defining milestone, laying the foundations for the business we know today. Since then, our growth has been shaped by the same family values we’ve always stood by; trust, fairness and strong relationships within the livestock community.

We have a proud and long history at Hayes and Co. with many significant milestones achieved over the years.
2003 | Silverdale Selling Complex construction completed
Hayes & Co Pty Ltd was established in 2003 at Silverdale in South East Queensland . Director and Manager, Peter Hayes, is a 4th generation cattleman and livestock auctioneer, with his great grandfather commencing business in the local area in 1902.
2008 North QLD Expansion | Purchase of the Nebo Saleyards
In 2008 Hayes & Co expanded into North Queensland with the purchase of the council saleyards at Nebo / Braeside. Today Hayes & Co Pty Ltd conduct regular Prime and store cattle sales in both South East and North Queensland.
2016 | Silverdale Merchandise Store Opens
In October 2016 Peter extended the business with the opening of the rural merchandise store and country apparel store, which includes many iconic country brands.
2020 | Hayes & Co Online launched
In July 2020 Hayes and Co Launched their online store. Clearing Sales
Hayes and Co Pty Ltd also conduct clearing sales on request and multi-vendor auctions are also held periodically.
