4th Silverdale Weaner Sale – Saturday 17th August 2024 – 829 head

Hayes & Co yarded 829 head at the fourth and last Silverdale Weaner sale for 2024 with prices reaching heights not seen this year. The sale comprised of 563 steers which averaged $972/head and 240 heifers which averaged $760/head.

A large panel of buyers were present with Western buyers dominating the sale. The majority of the cattle went to Taroom, Wandoan, Bollon, Charleville, Kingaroy and Meandarra.

• Mountview sold 145 Charolais cross steers to average an impressive $1233.80/head with their first four pens topping at $1360. They also sold Brahman cross steers for $1040/head. Mountview offered a total of 182 steers for an average of $1181/head. They also topped the sale with their Charolais heifers selling for $1000/head.
• The Cahill family sold Charolais cross steers to average $1290 and heifers for $990 with a total average of $1184.
• From Partnership sold Charbray, Droughtmaster and Brangus steers for an average of $1075/head.
• Surawski Farming sold late season Charbray weaner steers for $1076 to top at $1240.
• The Hollow Station also sold 70 late season Charbray and Simmental cross steers averaging $936, with the best pen reaching $1190.
• Rick Ruhland sold F1 Charbray steers to top at $1210, averaging $1100.
