Stanhope Crowned Champion Exhibit of Silverdale 17th Annual Silverdale Show & Sale
Hayes & Co yarded 363 cattle at the Silverdale 17th Annual Show & Sale which was highlighted by a glorious line up of pasture fed bullocks. The market was fully firm to slightly dearer for all descriptions with all usual buyers in attendance and fully operating. Cows made $2.60-$2.80c/kg with the top pen selling for $2.78c/kg. Pasture bullocks made $3-$3.33c/kg with the top pen making $3.33. Grain Accredited cattle were sold for $3.30-$3.60c/kg. Not many feeder cattle were yarded but were sold to top at $3.40c/kg. Weaner steers topped at $4.32c/kg and heifers topped at $3.50c/kg.
HIGHLIGHTS
Stanhope Cattle Co was crowned the Grand Champion Exhibit of the Show for the second year in a row selling a Charbray 100-day grain accredited steer for $3.46c/kg to return $2318. It was also crowned Senior Champion Steer.
First time vendors G & V Wicks were awarded the Allan Crawford Memorial Trophy for winning the Junior Champion Steer for their Limousin steer which made $3.52c/kg to return $2570. Their steer went on to win the Reserve Champion Exhibit of the Show.
TP & JE Surawski won Junior Pen of Heifers with their pen of 3 limousin heifers selling for $3.58c/kg to return $1796. TP & JE Surawski also won Junior & Senior Champion Female with limousin heifers making $3.56c/kg to return $1922 and $3.68c/kg to return $1803.
The Senior Champion Pen of Females was awarded to Mountaindale with their pen of 3 Limousin cows selling to $2.78c/kg to return $1775.
Stanhope Cattle Co was also awarded Junior Champion Pen of Steers with a pen of 3 Charbray steers which made $3.56c/kg to return $2445.
The Jack Hayes Memorial Trophy for the top pen of six pasture fed bullocks was awarded to B Hohenhaus with his Santa x Braford bullocks which made $3.30c/kg to return $2073.
Qualipac was awarded the Brian Nolan Memorial Trophy for their Champion Pen of Feed on Cattle with their Angus x steers which sold for $3.28c/kg to return $1853.
The Most Successful Vendor Bred Exhibitor was awarded to D.E Baker with her top quality Charbray x weaner steers making $4.32c/kg to return $1360 and heifers making $3.50c/kg to return $1043.
DA, CJ & AM Knopke sold a limousin steer with future show potential for $4.76c/kg to return $1380. Mountaindale sold a limousin steer with future show potential for $4.52c/kg to return $1243.
