Permit to Acquire
What is a permit to acquire?
A permit to acquire authorises a weapons licence holder to buy or acquire a weapon. You will be asked the details of your weapons licence when applying for a permit. A permit to acquire is for a single weapon only. You must apply each time you want to get a weapon.
How to apply for a Permit to Acquire?
Access to the Permit to Acquire Application can be found through https://www.police.qld.gov.au/webform/application
What information is needed when applying for a permit to acquire?
When applying for a permit to acquire you will be asked for the following details:
- Name
- Weapon’s license number and expiration date
- Email address
- Phone number
- VISA or Mastercard
- Details of where or whom you are purchasing/obtaining the firearm from.
If you are purchasing/obtaining from a dealer, you will need:
- Dealer’s license number
- Dealer’s address
- Calibre, category, and action of the firearm.
If purchasing/obtaining from an individual, you will need:
- Individual’s name
- Individual’s Weapon’s license number.
- Individual’s address
- All weapon details including – make, model, action, category, and calibre.
